Overview
SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL is a rapidly growing Non-Profit School in Siem Reap. It supports children of all ages, providing them with the opportunity to study English in an effort to improve the quality of their education from Kindergarten to University. In this part of Cambodia, not far from the Angkor temples complex, tourism is the main source of employment outside subsistence farming and family retail businesses. Therefore skills in languages and computing provide a passport for future employment. For over three hundred students, SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL provides hope, opportunity and support. SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL was started in January 2012 and was officially recognized by the Siem Reap Youth and Sport Department in November 2020. Over the past five years, the school has received the support of students’ guardians both in terms of morality and the quality of English Education. Currently, the school has two school buildings with six classrooms which house: 5 English classes and one computer room, one teacher’s office, one registration office and one bakery shop. The school has a total of 383 students- 201 females and 182 males from all 10 villages in the community. This is composed of 197 kindergarten age children and 186 young learner and adult students. For pre-school and school aged children there are two sessions. The morning session is from 7:30 to 10:20, and the afternoon session from 1:00 to 4:20. The young learner and adult classes study in two groups, 5-6PM, and 6-8PM.
Our History
Siem Reap province is the site of the last battle of the Khmer Rouge. Whilst the Khmer Rouge regime ended in 1979, some areas were not completely independent and the conflict continued until the 1990s. During the Khmer Rouge period, Cambodia’s infrastructure was almost completely ruined. In particular, the education sector was destroyed. The main purpose of the Khmer Rouge was to kill intellectuals, educators and students. These people were considered a threat to the suppression of the population. Schools were either destroyed or used as prisons. Over 3 years, 8 months and 20 days, more than two million Cambodians were killed out of a total population of 7 million. Siem Reap is a cultural, historical, and natural tourism area recognized by UNESCO as a World heritage site on December 14, 1992. It is also one of the world’s popular tourist destinations. The growth of tourism in the region is an important factor in the development of family economics. However, to find a job in tourism, prospective employees need to be fluent in foreign languages, in particular English, to work in different roles such as guides, drivers and in the hospitality area.
The people in this community are from poor families and as the remaining residents of the Khmer era, they have little or no literacy. They make their living by farming but due to the climatic conditions crops can only be grown in the wet season. Therefore the annual yield is poor. During the dry season, they need to find work in other areas to support provide an income. This is often as construction workers. As a result, family income barely supports basic family living. With such financial constraints, many families either don’t send their children to school or send them irregularly. Those who do send them do not consider their children’s education a priority and only send them sporadically as it is a government requirement. Interestingly, students who study in public schools do not learn to speak English even though English is available in the state’s curriculum. It is studied from a grammatical point of view but the students are not provided opportunity to become proficient at understanding, reading, speaking and conversing in English. For those families that want their children learn English, the only option is to send them to a private school, paying the high tuition fees. Even those few students finishing high school cannot speak English fluently which means the opportunity to obtain a good job or go to university is limited. SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL While a few students may be able to receive scholarships to attend college or university, they often do not have the basic English language skills necessary to read college-level materials, understand academic courses, and conduct the research required for higher education. To provide students in our community with opportunities to learn English and computer skills, and to contribute to the economic development of the community through education, I decided to establish SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL. The school aims to provide affordable educational opportunities, particularly for students from low-income families, while also welcoming students from other backgrounds. The school fees are used to support the overall operation of the school, educational materials, facilities, and staff salaries. SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL is committed to providing education and skills development rather than focusing primarily on profit.

Our Commitment to Education
In order to contribute to the development of the country and build a better society, human resources are one of the most important factors. A highly educated and skilled population is an important foundation for sustainable social and economic development. With this principle in mind, I established SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL in January 2012 with the aim of providing students, particularly those from communities with limited educational opportunities, with access to English language, computer education, and practical skills. Through education, we hope to help students build confidence, develop useful skills, continue their education, find better employment opportunities, and contribute positively to their families, communities, and the development of Cambodia.
Football Team
Sport is an important part of young people's development. Playing sports helps children become physically strong, stay healthy, develop teamwork and solidarity, and build self-confidence. In addition, participating in sports can help children stay away from drugs and other harmful activities. It also encourages them to develop discipline, responsibility, friendship, and a positive attitude toward learning and education. Through our football program, students have the opportunity to improve their physical fitness, teamwork, communication, leadership, and social skills. We believe that sports and education work together to help young people develop into healthy, responsible, and successful members of their communities.
Our Training Schedule

What We Do
What We Do
SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL conducts English language and computer classes that support Cambodian students and community members by providing opportunities to improve their education, language abilities, and computer skills. Along with providing educational opportunities, the school also supports students from disadvantaged families through educational materials, school uniforms, affordable or free English classes, and computer training opportunities. In addition, we engage students and community members in discussions about the value of education, the importance of learning English and computer skills, and the benefits of continuing their studies and developing practical skills for the future. We achieve this through our main educational projects below.
English Class Project
The English Class Project was established when SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL began in January 2012 . Since then, the school has provided English language education and learning opportunities to students from different backgrounds, particularly students from families with limited financial resources. Students from families who are able to contribute to the cost of their education may pay an affordable school fee, which helps support school operations, educational materials, facilities, and teacher salaries. The school aims to make English education accessible to students who may otherwise have limited opportunities to study English. Our English Class Project is organized into different learning levels according to students' ages and English abilities. The programs focus on developing students' four main English language skills:
- Listening
- Speaking
- Reading
- Writing
The school also emphasizes communication, vocabulary development, grammar, pronunciation, and confidence in using English in everyday situations. All English classes are operated under the budget of SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL, using responsible budgetary principles. School fees from families who can afford to contribute help support the education of students whose families have limited financial resources and also contribute to school administration and teacher salaries. However, limited financial resources remain an important challenge in expanding the project. In order to broaden students' knowledge and improve their English abilities, the school recognizes the importance of reading development and opportunities to practice English with fluent speakers. Therefore, the next phase of the English Language Project focuses on three main goals:
1. Expanding English Classes
The school aims to provide additional English classes so that more children and young people in the community can have access to English education. The school will continue to seek cooperation with local organizations, volunteers, community members, and other partners who share a similar mission and vision of increasing educational opportunities.
2. Improving the Quality of English Learning
To improve the quality and effectiveness of English learning, students need opportunities to practice English in real-life situations. For this reason, the school aims to organize volunteer and English-speaking activities that can attract foreign volunteers, teachers, tourists, and travelers to share their experiences and provide Cambodian students with opportunities to practice what they have learned.
3. Strengthening General Knowledge and Reading Skills
For students to communicate confidently with English speakers, they need sufficient general knowledge, ideas, and information to discuss and share. Reading is therefore an important part of the school's educational development. To facilitate this, SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL aims to develop reading activities, establish a reading club, encourage students to read regularly, and provide educational materials that can improve their general knowledge. The school also aims to develop and improve a library to support students' learning and reading activities.
Scholarship Project
The Scholarship Project aims to provide educational opportunities to students from disadvantaged families who demonstrate a strong willingness to study. Students selected for educational support should meet the following criteria:
- Students must be from disadvantaged or low-income households.
- Students must demonstrate a willingness to study and improve their education.
- Students must show self-control and discipline.
- Students must possess a willingness to improve their family circumstances and themselves for the future
- Students should demonstrate satisfactory academic performance and regular participation in their studies.
Uniform and Study Material Project
The school continues to explore opportunities to support students who need school uniforms, books, stationery, and other study materials. The purpose of this project is to help students from disadvantaged families attend school with the necessary materials and feel confident and prepared for their studies. Through cooperation with donors, organizations, community members, and other supporters, SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL aims to provide uniforms and study materials to students who need financial assistance.
Computer Training Project (An Ongoing Project)
The Computer Training Project provides students with opportunities to develop practical computer skills that are useful for education, employment, and everyday life. The computer program focuses on:
- Basic computer skills
- Typing skills
- Microsoft Office Word
- Microsoft Office Excel
- Microsoft Office PowerPoint
- Adobe Photoshop
- Computer maintenance
- Computer troubleshooting and repairs
- Internet and digital literacy
The school aims to provide computer education that is practical and appropriate for students' levels and future needs.
New Project: Internet and Digital Learning Project
Access to the internet is increasingly important for students because it allows them to access educational information, conduct research, practice English, learn computer skills, and continue their studies through online resources. The Internet and Digital Learning Project aims to provide students with access to online educational resources and opportunities to develop their digital literacy. Through this project, students will be encouraged to use the internet responsibly for:
- Educational research
- English language learning
- Computer and technology learning
- Reading and accessing educational resources
- Online learning and practice
- Developing digital skills for future employment
SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL welcomes cooperation and support from individuals, organizations, volunteers, and donors who would like to contribute to these educational projects and help provide better learning opportunities for students in the community.
How You Can Help
SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL runs on the generous support of kind people from Cambodia and around the world. We are always looking for more people who would like to support our educational programs and help create better opportunities for children and families in our community.
There are many ways you can help underprivileged children and families through SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL.
Sponsor a Child to Study English and Computer Skills
Help a child access a better education by providing the support and resources they need to study English and computer skills. Many children from poor and rural families do not have enough opportunities to study English or learn computer skills. For some families, the cost of additional education is too expensive, while others do not have access to an English or computer school near their home. By sponsoring a child, you can make a meaningful difference in their life. Your financial support can provide a child with the valuable opportunity to study English, develop computer skills, build confidence, and prepare for a brighter future. Every child at SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL is welcomed into a caring and supportive school community. Our students have their own unique personalities, hopes, dreams, and talents. When you sponsor a child, you become part of their educational journey and help them move closer to achieving their dreams.
Sponsor a Class or Help Decorate a Classroom
Children from poor families can face many barriers to receiving a quality education. Poverty is one of the major challenges, and many schools also have limited educational resources and facilities. For these reasons, many of our students cannot afford basic educational materials. By sponsoring a class, you can help provide the books, stationery, furniture, technology, and other resources students need to study and learn effectively. Some of our classrooms also need improvements to create a more attractive, comfortable, and inspiring environment for students.
Your support can help provide:
- Exercise books
- Pens, pencils, rulers, and other stationery
- English textbooks and worksheets
- Computer learning materials
- Computers and other technology equipment
- Speakers and audio-learning equipment
- Tables and chairs
- Whiteboards and classroom supplies
- Library books and learning resources
- Educational posters and classroom decorations
- Other materials that can make our classrooms more welcoming and enjoyable
Your support will help us create a better learning environment where students can participate actively, develop their skills, and enjoy their education.
Sponsor a Teacher's Education
You can also support a teacher from SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL through an education or scholarship program. Your sponsorship can help a teacher continue their education, improve their professional knowledge and teaching skills, and gain access to further educational opportunities. By investing in our teachers, you are also investing in the future of our students. Better-trained teachers can bring new knowledge, skills, and ideas into the classroom and provide students with better educational opportunities. Compared with many Western countries, university education in Cambodia is relatively inexpensive. However, even university tuition and other educational expenses can be difficult to afford for teachers and people from low-income families. Your support can give a dedicated teacher the opportunity to continue their education and develop their abilities.
Volunteer to Teach English and Computer Skills SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL welcomes volunteers who would like to share their knowledge, skills, time, and experience with our students.
Volunteers can help students improve their:
- English communication skills
- Speaking and pronunciation
- Listening skills
- Reading and writing
- Computer and digital skills
- Microsoft Office skills
- Confidence and communication
- Confidence and communication
- Knowledge of different cultures
Teaching and volunteering at SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL is not only an opportunity to help students learn. It is also an opportunity to meet local people, share cultures, make new friends, and become part of our school community.
Your Support Can Change a Child's Future
Whether you sponsor a child, support a classroom, provide educational materials, help a teacher continue their education, donate a computer, or volunteer your time, your contribution can make a real difference.

Bunhoeun's Story
Hello everyone,
My name is Bunhoeun Chheng , and I am 39 years old. I am a father of five children
and
the Founder and
Managing Director of SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
My journey has not always been easy. When I was only 12 years old, I became homeless and
had to
live on
the streets . I experienced hunger, hardship, loneliness, and uncertainty at an age
when a
child should
have been able to feel safe and cared for. I know what it feels like to have very little and to
wonder
where your next meal will come from or what the future will bring. I also understand how difficult
it
can be for a child to continue learning when life is already a struggle. Those difficult experiences
changed my life and shaped the person I am today. Although my childhood was very difficult, I did
not
want my circumstances to decide my future. I continued looking for opportunities to learn, work, and
improve my life.
Education became my hope. I believed that learning could give me a different future, and that belief has stayed with me throughout my life. Through many years of hard work and determination, I continued my education and eventually achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism and a Bachelor's Degree in Management . These achievements were not easy for me, but they taught me that even when life is extremely difficult, we should never give up on our dreams. Because I experienced poverty and homelessness myself, I understand the struggles that many poor and disadvantaged children face today. I know that sometimes children do not need someone to give them everything—they simply need someone to believe in them and give them an opportunity. This is one of the reasons I decided to establish SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL. My goal is to provide children and young people, especially those from families with limited financial resources, with opportunities to learn English, computer skills, and other important skills for their future. I want our school to be more than just a place where children attend classes. I want it to be a place where they can feel safe, respected, encouraged, and hopeful.
When I look at the children at our school, sometimes I see a little bit of my younger self in them. I remember what it was like to struggle and not know what tomorrow would bring. That is why I want to do whatever I can to give these children opportunities that I did not have when I was their age.
Today, I continue working with our teachers, students, families, volunteers, and supporters to build a better future for our community. There are still many challenges, and sometimes I struggle to keep everything going, but I refuse to give up. My past taught me to be strong, my education gave me hope, and the children give me a reason to continue. My dream is simple: I want every child to have a chance to learn, to have hope, and to build a better future - regardless of how poor their family may be.
I know what it means to have nothing. That is why, whenever I have the opportunity, I want to give something back to children who are facing difficulties. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, supported our school, visited our children, volunteered, donated, or simply believed in our mission. Your kindness and encouragement give me strength to continue this journey.
This is my story. I was once a homeless child on the street, but I never stopped hoping for a better future. Today, I want to help other children believe that their difficult circumstances do not have to define their future. 🙏❤️
Our Commitment
At SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL , our team believes that education can change lives. Our teachers and staff work together to provide students with opportunities to learn English, computer skills, communication, and practical knowledge in a supportive and friendly environment. We are committed to helping students from all backgrounds develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to build a better future.
Volunteers
Project
In 2018, the school had four main projects and was looking for partners and sponsors to work with us.
The First Priority Project: “Buying Land for Building a Permanent Office and School”
For the last five years, the school has leased private land to run its operations. The problem is that every two years the landlord raises the rent prices. The instability of the school location is a concern for the school management, students, and their guardians. As a result, the school management decided to appeal to charities and generous supporters to help raise funds to purchase land and construct a school-owned building.
The budget plan that we needed to purchase the land was $45,600 , and the amount needed to construct the school building was $29,565 .
Total budget for this project: $75,165.
At present, this project requires a large amount of funding to complete and may take a long time to raise the necessary funds. Therefore, the school has opened a savings account with a local bank to save money toward purchasing land. We sincerely hope that charities, organizations, and generous supporters around the world will be able to help SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL with this important project. Please contact us through our school email for more information.
The Second Priority Project: “English Class”
The school will select 200 young children from poor families to attend English classes as full-time students. The budget plan for one young student is as follows:
School Fee Term Conditions:
- $25 for one month
- $90 for four months
- $180 for one year
Besides this, we plan to select 20 younger learners from poorer families to attend English classes on a part-time basis. The budget plan for one younger learner is as follows:
School Fee Term Conditions:
- $45 for one term (4-month course)
- $160 for one year (12-month course)
Through this project, we are looking for generous people from around the world who may be able to sponsor a student. Your support is very significant in helping young children improve their English literacy, develop their knowledge and confidence, and create better opportunities for their future. We sincerely appreciate every person who supports our students and helps them continue their education. Please contact us through our school email for more information.
The Third Priority Project: “Internet Service Installation”
Internet access is very important for expanding, strengthening, and increasing students' knowledge. In addition, the Internet is an important tool for promoting quality and effective English and computer learning. In particular, students can use the Internet to communicate, conduct research, access educational resources, and find information that is required for their studies. The total budget needed to run this project is $525.
- $275 for installation and additional equipment
- $350 for Internet service for one year
With Internet access, our students will have greater opportunities to learn, research, practice their English, and develop important digital skills. Please contact us through our school email for more information.
The Fourth Project: “Building the Library”
Most schools around the world have libraries to help improve students' reading, learning, and research abilities. Unfortunately, SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL is not yet financially able to build a standard library. However, the school has a small room that can be used to keep books and provide students with a place for reading and research.
We would like to improve this room and develop it into a small library where students can read, study, and access educational resources. The total budget plan for decorating and equipping the library is $1500.
- $900 for reconstruction and renovation of the room
- $750 for purchasing library books and supplies
We welcome support from individuals, organizations, charities, and other generous people who would like to help us develop this important learning resource for our students. A library would give our students greater opportunities to develop their reading habits, improve their English, conduct research, and discover new knowledge. Please contact us through our school email for more information.
Support Our Projects
SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL believes that education can change children's lives and create better opportunities for their future. We are looking for partners, sponsors, volunteers, charities, and generous supporters who would like to work with us and help make these projects possible. Every contribution, whether large or small, can make a meaningful difference to our students and school community. Thank you for supporting education and helping us build a brighter future for Cambodian children.

Scholarships & Students
Our school management has a goal to recruit sponsors for needy children in our community through our “English Class Project.” We are always looking for generous individuals, families, organizations, and partners who would like to sponsor children and give them an opportunity to receive a better education. We are very grateful to all of our generous sponsors who have supported our students and helped make their educational dreams possible.
A Story of Two Sponsored Students

One of the most meaningful parts of our scholarship program is seeing how educational support can change the lives of children from disadvantaged families. For example, two brothers from a poor family have been cared for by their grandparents since they were born.
The elder brother is 14 years old, and the younger brother is 5 years old. They attend their local government school and come from a family with very limited financial resources.
Because of their difficult family circumstances, the children often did not even have enough money to buy a small snack at school like other students. Their family was also unable to afford additional educational opportunities, such as English and computer classes. With the support of generous sponsors and the help of SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL, the children are now able to receive additional education and learning opportunities. The elder brother attends government school during the day and also receives additional lessons in subjects such as mathematics and Khmer. In the evening, he comes to SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL to study English and computer skills together with other young learners. He is very happy to have the opportunity to study English and computer skills because he hopes to build a better future. “I am going to try to study English as hard as I can, and I also want to learn computer skills. I never thought that I would have the opportunity to study English, but I asked my grandparents many times. In the future, I want to become a computer repairer. If I know English, I believe I will be able to study computers better. I would like to thank my sponsors very much for giving me and my brother this wonderful opportunity to study English and computer skills at SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL with our friends.” The younger brother is also able to attend government school and then come to SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL to study English in the afternoon. It is wonderful to see the positive impact that sponsorship and education can have on the lives of children and their families.
Give a Child a Chance
Many children in our community have dreams and ambitions, but their families cannot always afford additional education. Through the SCS SKILL COMPUTER SCHOOL Scholarship Program , we hope to give more children the opportunity to study:
- English language
- Computer skills
- Mathematics
- Reading and writing
- Communication skills
- Other educational subjects
A scholarship can provide more than education. It can provide hope, confidence, opportunity, and a pathway toward a better future . We welcome individuals, families, organizations, and sponsors from Cambodia and around the world who would like to support a child through our scholarship program. Your support can help a child learn today and achieve their dreams tomorrow.
